IOI Loders Croklaan is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrick Cobussen as the new European sales director, starting July 1 st , 2013. Mr. Cobussen succeeds Roald Hulst, who has taken up the position of global sales & marketing director within the IOI Loders Croklaan Group.

Speaking at the Shea Trade Conference in New York City last week, two shea specialists of IOI Loders Croklaan highlighted the sustainability and technical characteristics of shea. Nuts of the shea tree, picked in the wild on the savannah in west African countries like Ghana and Burkina Faso, are processed into shea butter and used in food, cosmetics and other industrial applications. The trade conference in NYC was initiated by the Global Shea Alliance to promote shea in the US. The IOI Group successfully attained two more Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) compliance certifications. The certifications were awarded to the plantation management units Syarimo Grouping and Landang Sabah Grouping, on the 20th of March and the 3rd of April respectively. Both certificates are valid for the next five years. To date, 10 out of 12 of IOI palm oil mills and surrounding estates have been RSPO certified.

The Managing Board of IOI Loders Croklaan Group has recently appointed Julian Veitch as its Chief Executive Officer and Vincent Geerts as Group Chief Financial Officer. Also, effective July 1, 2012 Michael van Sallandt will assume the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) for IOI Loders Croklaan Asia and the present COO for IOI Loders Croklaan Asia, U.R. Sahasranamam, will assume the position of Senior Group Director of Special Projects.

Mr. Veitch has been serving in the role of COO, Americas Region since January 2006 and will continue in that role until a successor is named. Mr. Geerts has functioned as the Financial Controller for IOI Loders Croklaan Europe from October 2009 to present. Prior to joining IOI Loders Croklaan Asia, Mr. Sallandt served as COO for IOI Loders Croklaan Europe from August 2006 until September 2009. Both Mr. Sallandt and Mr. Geerts will report directly to Mr. Veitch.

IOI Loders Croklaan today launched a campaign showing that their Shea nuts supply chain from West Africa is transparent and sustainable. As a first in the industry, IOI Loders Croklaan teamed up with the Rainforest Alliance and invited them for a study into their shea nuts supply chain. “There are no major critical issues along the supply chain for Shea nuts with regards to sustainability standards”, says Olaf Paulsen, who executed the study for the Rainforest Alliance.

There has been considerable progress in the past 21 days with regards to interaction between involved parties. The proposition submitted by IOI and the comments received from the local community and complainants have been vigilantly reviewed by the RSPO.  The RSPO is working closely together with IOI towards a clear and responsible roadmap to address the issues related to this grievance. However, this necessitates some additional time beyond the stipulated deadline of 25th May 2011. We will keep all the stakeholders and public notified on the final decision very soon.

On the 10^th of March 2011 - Dato’Lee Yeow Chor – IOI Group Executive Director opened the second Creative Studio of IOI-Loders Croklaan. The Creative Studio Asia is located in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia. The first branch, the Creative Studio Europe, is situated in Wormerveer, the Netherlands, and has been a great success since it was officially opened in June 2010.
